Jill was raised in Bishop's Falls, NL and has been living in the St. John's area since moving to play university volleyball with the Memorial Seahawks.

Peter O'Rielly
Peter hails from Central Newfoundland and has been coaching at various schools around the province over the last decade.

Peter has a love and enthusiasm for the sport which he tries to instill to each athlete he is fortunate to coach. He preaches hard work, determination, and consistency to his athletes. He has had the pleasure of being involved in coaching numerous volleyball programs, including:

Coach
Maria Antle
Maria hails from St.John's and is a Gonzaga High School alum. Maria is currently attending Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, NS studying applied human nutrition. Maria is a multi-sport university athlete competing for MSVU in both soccer and volleyball!

Maria was a highly skilled high school setter for Gonzaga, earning herself the prestigious NLVA female athlete of the year in her senior year, and she continues to hone those skills during her time in post-secondary.
Maria has an extremely energetic personality and her skillset, coupled with her love of the sport, makes for an excellent coach for athletes of all age groups.

Coach
Alison Poynter
Alison "Al" Poynter is a St. John's local and graduated from Holy Heart. After high school Al went on to Memorial University where she was a proud seahawk and setter for the Memorial University Women's Volleyball team from 2014-2018.
​
Since her tenure at Memorial, Al has been involved in coaching numerous high level volleyball programs and is currently a coach for the Gonzaga High School Girls Varsity team. Al continues to play competitive volleyball and also dabbles with flag football on the side.
​
Al's resume speaks volumes but athletes who have had the pleasure of having Al as their coach will attest to her warm and encouraging nature combined with an ability to give highly detailed and technical coaching feedback.

Coach
Cat Ducey
Catherine "Cat" Ducey is a familiar face in the Newfoundland and Labrador volleyball community. From 2013 to 2018, Cat was a cornerstone as a middle blocker for the Memorial University volleyball team, where her dedication to both athletics and academics shone brightly. She earned the prestigious Academic All-Canadian recognition for four consecutive years, a testament to her commitment on and off the court.
Beyond her playing career, Cat has made significant contributions to the development of volleyball in the province through her coaching. She has lent her expertise to various school, club, and provincial teams, and notably served as an apprentice coach for the 2017 Canada Games Women's indoor team, sharing her passion and knowledge with the next generation of athletes.
​
While still actively playing volleyball, Cat has also embraced new athletic challenges in recent years. She has successfully ventured into rowing, competing in the renowned St. John's Regatta, and has also taken up artistic swimming, showcasing her versatility and continued love for competitive sport.

Coach
Jordan Smith
Jordan Smith was raised in Clarenville, NL and has recently returned to Canada after spending two years overseas in the UK.
​
Jordan brings over 16 years of competitive playing experience and a strong coaching background to the court. His passion for volleyball and commitment to athlete development is evident through both his achievements and his dedication to the sport, highlighted by:
• 3x 4A Provincial Championships (2011, 2012, 2013)
• 2x NLVA High School Male Player of the Year
• Memorial University Varsity Volleyball (2014–2015)
• Atlantic University Sport Rookie of the Year
• Finalist – CIS Rookie of the Year (2014–2015)
Jordan most recently competed in Scotland with Su Ragazzi Volleyball Club, where he continued to add to his accolades:
• 2x Scottish Volleyball Premier League Champion (2023, 2024)
• Scottish Cup Champion (2023)
• Scottish Cup MVP (2023)
• 2x Finalist – Scottish Volleyball Player of the Year

As a coach, Jordan has worked with various Provincial Team Programs, from Junior Elite to Team NL Eastern Elite programs, earning both silver and bronze medals at the Eastern Elite Championships. He is a NCCP Trained Development Coach and is passionate about giving back to the volleyball community.
Now based in Newfoundland and Labrador again, Jordan is excited to continue his coaching journey, helping to inspire and develop the next generation of volleyball athletes.

Coach
Leah Hackett
Leah hails from Portugal Cove-St Philips and is a proud alum of Prince of Wales Collegiate, where she played varsity for all three years, captaining her team to an undefeated 18U championship in her senior year.
Leah has played competitive volleyball since grade 9 and has experience in multiple positions, including: left side, right side and libero making her a well versed, multi-position coach. Lastly in 2024, she represented the province as part of the NL Canada Cup team.
Leah is passionate about developing a positive, high-energy team environment. She is currently an assistant coach for the PWC Varsity Girls volleyball team.

She believes in building strong team culture and creating a space where players can grow in both skill and confidence.
